Deep in the dark of the woods rests the Eerie Weary. The Weary is all alone, nestled on a twisted path, a path almost too spooky to explore. There are shadows and cracks: creaks and strange shapes. Even so, Clover Black wanders by again and again, curious to know more.

Each evening the Weary gazes at tiny Clover with a pair of beaming golden eyes. Clover believes the Weary must be alive. Surprise! Tonight, the Weary is blinking with two pairs of bright glowing eyes!

“The only creature I know with more than two eyes is Spider Brown.” Clover muses, “She has eight! But the Weary is quite large.” Clover ponders, “Could a spider grow taller than my cottage? Surely no. Her web is much too delicate to stretch across the forest.” Little Clover tiptoes closer and closer. Clover crawls quietly across a fallen log with velvet paws, steps gently over a cluster of mushrooms. She hides behind a fluffy fern leaf to take a peek, only to find… the third set of brilliant amber eyes!

Clover lifts her head, determined to discover, “Is it a monster? Could a six-eyed monster be haunting Clover’s wood?” Down on her belly, ears back and breath held, Clover creeps toward the Weary.

With her paw outstretched, ready to tap, tap, tap, she sees that the Weary is covered in… scales? “The Weary must be an ancient beast!”
